    Ethics in the Workplace:

Practicing good conduct between employees in the workplace an important aspect of running a well-balanced work environment. In order for a business to maintain ethics in the workplace, they must research different ideas that a fair workplace needs and recognize if there is a need for taking steps to improve. Many companies do not know if there are issues going on with their employees. According to a survey by The Center for Association Leadership (ASAE), “Just over 40 percent of workers said they had observed on-the-job misconduct that violated their employers’ standards or rules and of those who witnessed misconduct, only 63 percent reported what they saw.” It is crucial for business to always look out for ways to improve how workers treat one another and affect the success of the company.
There are many ways a business operator can address problems between employees. In the same article by the ASAE, Karla Taylor says to “Provide ongoing training. Emphasize learning to think about the ethical aspects of daily work life. Use case studies grounded in your own workplace so people won’t automatically think.” Also, the use of human resources to discuss problems with workers and to punish people for misconduct is a smart idea for all companies to use. The importance of a well-run workplace is a major factor of employee and customer.

  2. Work ethics
This article is about developing strong work ethic in order to create a good reputation for your company. In the article, Jaqueline Whitmore explains that there are 7 different elements to a strong work ethic. She says things like professionalism, respectfulness, and dependability help create a rock solid work ethic. Without a good work ethic your business’s reputation becomes bad because of people who spread the work about it.
One of the examples of a strong work ethic according to Whitmore is dedication. “You don’t stop unless the job is done, and done right.” I personally think if you go by that, you will make you so much better in the workplace. If you get all you work done and do it right you will be able to not fall behind and shine among your co-workers. She includes that you “should not settle for good enough.” This is basically saying that you need to go hard on all your work.

  3. Diversity in the work place causes economic growth. This article has lots of facts about the diversity in the work place such as how a diverse workplace means a more qualified work place. It talks about how more people are willing to come to your place if it is more diverse. Diversity is necessary to make a competitive economy. It states how diversity is such a huge deal in the work place today.
I was shocked because of how much diversity is needed in a workplace but yet people still use racism as a reason to not hire people. Everyone deserves a fair chance in getting a job. Diversity also helps the economy and we all need to help the economy. Diversity is a big change in the workplace but it really is helping us out. We need a fair way of hiring people.

  4. Diversity in the Workplace
There are many advantages and disadvantages to diversity in the workplace. It provides a diverse experience for workers. With different backgrounds of other people workers can experience new things. It provides opportunities to learn and grow. Everyone has different lifestyles and backgrounds. Workers can learn new things about other people as they experience things with others. Workers can grow not only as employees but as people as well. As the different ethnicities and backgrounds collide people might not integrate well with each other or get along, this can cause communication issues. You must decide whether or not the benefits out way potential problems.

    My Reaction
I have always known that diversity is important to business. It can provide different viewpoints on situations. It is important to help your employees and yourself grow. I hadn’t considered the problems of diversity before reading this article. It was interesting to learn about the potential problems of diversity.

Amazon is creating a new part time working plan. They have improved the benefits and flexibility. They also have full teams with part-time workers which includes managers. This is a big change in the part-time job world. People think that this could change the work place diversity. It could add several types of people because of the new form of part-time.
Amazon thinks this will benefit women workers because they are traditionally supposed to be taking care of family matters but this job allows them to still do family matters but also have a job as well. They also think it will benefit underrepresented minorities and members of the LGBTQ community. They think these jobs can benefit lower income families as well. However they think it also could create friction between employees and more difficult to advance to leadership positions.
This also could create other issues, like is it possible for a company to have flexible schedules for some employees and have them work with regular workers? Some worry this will create different classes of corporate workers. How will flex schedules work with vacations? Will flexible schedules make the company more appealing to workers? All of these questions will be answered in the near future. I think this will be a positive thing for everyone. I think it will help everybody.

  6. Diversity in the Workplace
The common workplace is changing for the better. People no longer are discriminated against in the workplace for being of a different race or cultural background. People are provided with free education and opportunities to get them to where they want to be in life. Workers may grow not only as employees but as people as well. Diversity is an important part in the workplace so that people can expand their horizon and become a better citizen in society by being more open to new ideas and people. Memes are great.
My reaction to this article was that it was written by educated, ethical people. The people that wrote this article really seemed like they knew what they were talking about. They mainly focused on why diversity in the workplace was important and how we are very close in achieving it. They wrote about the challenges and benefits of diversity as well. Overall they were rigorous in their point to achieve further diversity in the workplace.

  7. Ethics in the workplace is a major part of your job. Bad ethics is a problem in every job you have. Many people do not realize what they are doing to have bad work ethic. Every business should have a standard or a set priory for their workers about ethics. There are about 40 percent said they have observed on the job misconducts. Of the 40 percent about half of them do not report it. Even the hardest working employees are unethical. The people you wouldn’t expect even do thing wrong.
There not a wrong way to get your ethics program started. You can do many thing such as convincing the people that work for you that it’s effective. Once you get it started you have to enforce it very much and make sure they do not break the new rules. If it does progress in a good way you can do other things to make it more efficient and effective. You can start a committee and see if that works. Also make sure your manager or CEO is okay with everything and also make sure they approve it and not let it waste your businesses money.

I’ve read an article about workplace ethics. It was based on the importance on ethics in a workplace. Having good work ethics are a good trait to have when applying for a job. Examples of good work ethics are Behavior, Integrity, Accountability, Teamwork, and Commitment. I feel like teamwork would be the best ethic because at a job you all have to work together to succeed so you need to be able to work with others

    Ethics in Workplace
In the article “Our Everyday Life” By: Ralph Heibutzki, states how to improve ethics in workplace. “Creating a workplace where integrity flourishes isn't easy, particularly if ethical corner-cutting has become the prevailing mentality. However, companies can take powerful steps to raise the bar -- such as instituting a code of conduct, and tying pay raises to its implementation. Whatever a company does, it's important to let employees know that they'll be treated equally. Otherwise, the message comes across as, "Do as we say, do not as we do. “Sponsored link” said Ralph.
He has shown a couple of websites where you can get the right information, handbooks that you could use to help out in the workplace and keep ethics healthy. He has shown how you should state standards, “Creating a code of ethics is a good way of outlining the kinds of behaviors that an employer will accept. In crafting such policies, however, companies often focus more on prohibited conduct, instead of ethical behaviors that should be promoted, Margolis says. Employees pick up quickly on ethical policies that lack consistency. There's little point in telling workers not to cross certain ethical lines, for example, when they're also urged to "make those numbers." (Set Consistent Standards) he has also wanted and has given example of to encourage the employees to not be afraid to let people know that someone in the workplace is being ethical.
My opinion on this article is that yes most people tend to use ethics in work place a code could really help and maybe some people use it just so people don’t feel discriminated after telling the boss what was happening. It’s a good idea very well organized and he pretty much gave away some of the handbooks that can be used to improve the ethics in workplace.

  10. My article is about a diversity program who is often making workplaces less diverse, that new study finds. “Despite multi-billion-dollar lawsuits, cultural shifts and even good intentions, the demographic makeup of most major companies remains largely homogenous. Across industries, from the increasingly obsolescent world of investment banking to the relatively young tech sector, businesses have not made significant progress toward ethnic and gender diversity.” (Belanger, Lydia. "Diversity Programs Often Make Workplaces Less Diverse, New Study Finds." Entrepreneur. N.p., n.d. Web. 20 Oct. 2016.)That is basically saying even though people file many lawsuits for so much money, shifts because of your culture, or good meanings big companies still stay the same no diverse in them. They also haven’t made any further progress about the diverse in gender and ethnic diversity in the work place. I think this is important because despite what you believe in, what you look like, how you dress, what you sexuality orientation is, you should still be able to work where you know you’ll be successful at.
There are some tips that they provide of what to do and what not to do. “Don’t: Trust your employees to follow through. While 40 percent of companies have instituted job tests as a means to combat discrimination, some biased hiring managers may choose to quietly skip this step, or they may interpret results differently depending on the candidate’s sex or ethnicity. Along these lines, employee performance reviews do not necessarily protect against bias. Women and minorities tend to receive lower ratings. It’s also common for managers to inflate reviews across the board to avoid confrontation or to diminish the weight of the reviews in their promotion decisions” (Belanger, Lydia. "Diversity Programs Often Make Workplaces Less Diverse, New Study Finds." Entrepreneur. N.p., n.d. Web. 20 Oct. 2016.) they are basically saying some one sided hiring managers may skip a step or think of it at a different perspective just because of their gender or ethnicity. Also that women and minority men tend to receive lower rating
There is also one thing you should do. That is to give your employees something good to feel about. Which is companies providing positive reinforcement to managers who volunteer to help recruit women on college campuses. Not always women but minority men as well. (Belanger, Lydia. "Diversity Programs Often Make Workplaces Less Diverse, New Study Finds." Entrepreneur. N.p., n.d. Web. 20 Oct. 2016.) I think that is important because if you just go about your day and just act like you don’t care and give your employees this dull feeling toward them they won’t succeed or feel like they’re doing good enough when they probably are but they’re not being told or they aren’t getting anything good to feel about so their thoughts are most likely “what am I doing wrong?” and they will doubt their job and doubt what they do all because their boss won’t give credit when it’s due.
